Visualizing the landscape and evolution of capacitive deionization by scientometric analysis

Capacitive deionization (CDI) as an emerging desalination technology attracts increasing attention due to its advantages such low cost, environmental friendliness, simple operation, and large water recovery. This study presents a systematic, objective, comprehensive review of CDI research via scientometric analysis. The dataset was collected from Web Science analysed by software Biblioshiny, VOSviewer CiteSpace. After analysing sum 2270 documents, we identified the most influential journals, countries, institutions, authors, publications. We also mapped networks co-authorship, co-citation, keywords co-occurrence. Desalination has largest number publications in CDI. China is country with publications, Egypt highest level international collaboration. keyword cluster analyses demonstrate evolution electrodes traditional carbon materials through carbon-based nanomaterials Faradaic diversification cell architectures. timeline visualization displays five popular topics, including electrode materials, charge efficiency, salinity, architectures, selective removal. Moreover, provided several recommendations for future research. article will give authors intuitive understanding status, frontier trends
